June the 5th: World Environment Day

- The best way to combat global warming is to evaluate everything in your life, and see whether it brings you enough benefit to justify its carbon footprint. If someone in your life isn't really contributing to your happiness or wellbeing, why not wrap their head tightly in a recycled plastic shopping bag until the end of World Environment Day, reducing their carbon emissions to practically zero?
- Growing your own crops is the latest green craze - why not turn over part of your garden to growing your own crop of marijuana? The marijuana will attract hippies, who are apparently good for the environment somehow.
- Much of our food is now shipped thousands of miles round the world by air and sea, consuming a huge amount of natural resources. Instead, arrange to have all your groceries fired to you with a giant catapult.
- As a society we use millions of plastic shopping bags every year, most of which end up in landfills or polluting the environment. Yet one quick, inexpensive operation can give you a marsupial pouch in which you can carry several pounds of shopping at no cost to the earth, and leaving your hands free.
- Two of the most dangerous pollution sources are cars and the energy used to heat our homes. By burning cars to keep warm, you're striking a double blow for the earth!
And that's your Day for today.
